Shane Warne state funeral - LIVE
The world of sport bids goodbye to one of its true greats today as a memorial service is held in Australia to celebrate the life of cricket legend Shane Warne.
Well over 50,000 spectators are expected to gather at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to honour the iconic leg-spinner, who died suddenly at the age of just 52 earlier this month, while other services will be held simultaneously at cricket grounds across the country.
Warne was found dead while on holiday in Thailand having suffered a heart attack and the shocking news sent cricket into mourning.
Close family and friends have already held a private ceremony for Warne but Wednesday’s events give the wider public the chance to pay their respects.
The celebration is set to feature tributes from friends, celebrities, former team-mates and rivals both from Australia and around the world, as well as musical performances from the likes of Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Chris Martin.
