Pogues singer Shane MacGowan and his wife Victoria Mary Clarke have taken to social media to celebrate the verdict of the Johnny Depp v Amber Heard case.
The pair said they have been "praying for this for years" after Depp won his multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife.
On Wednesday, June 1, a jury ruled that Heard defamed her ex-husband after a six week trial.
In a joint post on Instagram, Shane and Victoria said: "This is just SO ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!
"There are no words to express our excitement and gratitude.
"We have been praying and praying for this for years and to finally see justice is thrilling beyond measure!!! Well done to everyone involved and well done to everyone who stood by him no matter what!"
MacGowan and Depp have been friends for more than three decades.
In 2020, Johnny produced a documentary about Shane's life and career called Crock of Gold – A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan.
Both Shane and Victoria have been vocal about expressing their support for Johnny during the trial.
Victoria wrote on social media last week: "Sending a hundred gazillion angels to Johnny and his amazing team and to everyone who has been showing up and supporting them all over the world."
58-year-old Johnny was awarded $15million in damages after suing Amber Heard for $50m over an article she wrote on domestic violence. The seven person jury unanimously found Amber Heard's claims to be "false" and that she acted with "malice".
The jury deliberated for 13 hours before returning their verdict.
In a statement following the verdict, Johnny Depp said: "Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many years supported and believed in me were forever changed.
"And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled... A new chapter has finally begun."
