Shane Lowry takes home huge cheque for decent finish at PGA Championship

Shane Lowry's prize money from the PGA Championship was revealed following his 12th placed finish at Oak Hill.

Overall, the County Offaly native walked away with $365,000 whilst tournament winner Brooks Koepka took home $3,150,000.

After he finished third in the field for proximity to the hole and closing with a one-under 69 to tie for 12th on level par, Lowry felt he should have gotten more out of his game, but he is optimistic about the summer to come.

Lowry made things difficult for himself by making a three-putt bogey at the first hole. However, he birdied the fourth hole, recovered from a bogey at the 10th hole with an eagle two and a birdie at the 14th, and then missed a last-second putt at the 17th.

"It's been okay; I played pretty good today," said Lowry.

"I gave myself a lot of chances, gave myself a chance to do something. It was one of those weeks where I was going away. Going probably should have been better again.

"But it's another week at a major where I'm out there, and I feel like that brought a lot of my best for me and pretty happy with my performance."

Overall, both McIlroy and Lowry performed strongly at the PGA Championship as they look to continue the momentum into the summer months.
