RTE viewers saw Shane Byrne get the boot on the latest episode of Dancing with the Stars.
The former rugby player narrowly missed out on a place in next week's quarter final of the competition. Shane and his dance partner Karen Byrne found themselves in the dance off, alongside Panti Bliss and her professional partner Denys Samson, on the show's Orchestra week.
Fans on Twitter sympathised with Shane's loss and applauded his efforts on Twitter. Some remarked that his departure was unfair as he still had a lot to offer.

Another person pointed out: "Shane Byrne & Karen Byrne you certainly entertained me the past few weeks! You’re my favourites."
Shane performed an American Smooth to Luck Be a Lady Tonight by Frank Sinatra. He received a meagre score of 22 from the three judges, before later being eliminated in the dance off.
Viewers praised the RTE Concert Orchestra's involvement with tonight's show. The episode even featured a quirky rendition of 'Gangnam Style' performed by the talented musicians.
