The Boston Celtics are, along with the Toronto Raptors, “among the teams expressing interest “in trading for San Antonio Spurs big man Jakob Poeltl according to new reporting from The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Though not a revelation given Charania himself has reported this more than once in the recent past, the use of the gerund form in his writing may indicate an ongoing effort by Boston to pry Poeltl free from the Spurs.
Given Celtics president Brad Stevens’ suggestion that Boston is trying to “fortify” their depth coupled with co-Governor Wyc Grousbeck’s comments about the team needing to “muscle up, and … get the job done,” such a move does not seem beyond the pale.
But conversely, the current iteration of the team’s front office under Stevens and Zarren has largely moved in silence, leading us to believe that it is very possible another target — or several — are potentially also priorities for the team ahead of the trade deadline.
While it seems unlikely that the Celtics will be making any blockbuster moves, there’s been chatter that the front office is looking for additional depth on the wing and in the frontcourt. https://t.co/sCbCSBWIXk

In the same article by Charania, for example, the Athletic newsbreaker discussed previous talks between the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz about moving forward Jarred Vanderbilt.
Such a versatile swingman able to play down to the 3 and up to the 5 would be an excellent option for Boston if they plan to follow through on their recent proclamations. Other options such as Naz Reid
