A shameless thief who was in the dock for stealing expensive pens asked magistrates "can I go out shoplifting again?".
Earlier in the court hearing, Daniel Stewart had admitted helping himself to more than £1,000 worth of stationary from Fenwick, in Newcastle city centre.
The hapless crook was captured on CCTV putting the two pens in his pocket and was monitored as he walked toward the exit before being detained.
