Arsenal have had their opening offer for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk rejected, according to reports from the Telegraph. It comes as football.london understood the Gunners tabled an opening bid of £55million on Boxing Day to try and get a deal over the line before January.
The Ukraine international was linked with a move in the summer, but ended up staying with his club to continue his development. He has continued his ideal form in that time with Shakhtar, even scoring against European champions Real Madrid in this season's edition of the Champions League.
The 19-year-old has seen his stock rise even further in the half-a-season that he's stayed, but it appears as though a move to the Emirates Stadium is on the agenda. Mudryk has continued to flirt with the Gunners, posting social media hints and even discussing a move in an interview.

The winger was asked about his stance on the Premier League and Arsenal with CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, saying: "Every guy dreams about the Premier League," he continued. "Arsenal are a very good team. A very good coach. I like the way they play. From my side, I can't say no."
Following the announcement of the bid on Boxing Day, Mudryk posted an Instagram story of him watching the Gunners' 3-1 win over West Ham as a huge hint over the move. Mikel Arteta was asked about the player watching the game, but as usual, the Spaniard was tight-lipped on the situation.
"I never speak of players that are not with us…" Arteta told reporters. "But it’s a good thing for England that you don't have many other games in other countries! Hopefully we gave all the people a good show with this game."
