'Shaken' teen attacked on dark footpath in East Lothian as police hunt for male suspect

A Scots teenager was assaulted in a frightening attack on a dark footpath prompting police to launch a manhunt.

The 14-year-old male victim, who has been described as being "uninjured" but left "shaken", was approached on a path off Ormiston Road in Ormiston, East Lothian, on Thursday evening (December 22), sometime between 5.30pm and 5.50pm, Edinburgh Live reports.

Police described the suspect as being a white male, around 6ft tall, who was clean shaven. He was wearing dark clothing and spoke with a "strong Scottish accent".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of an assault of a 14-year-old male on a path off Ormiston Road in Ormiston around 6pm on Thursday, 22 December.

“The male was uninjured but shaken by the incident, which happened between 5.30pm and 5.50pm.

“The man involved in the incident is described as white, around 6ft tall, clean shaven and wearing a dark coloured hooded top with the hood pulled up and dark jogging bottoms. He spoke with a strong Scottish accent.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information or who believes they may have seen the man described can call 101, quoting reference 2716 of 22 December.”
