Following the Oklahoma City Thunder’s message-sending win over the Philadelphia 76ers, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was asked about his patience on the Thunder’s rebuild.
Gilgeous-Alexander — who just finished his day of work with 37 points on efficient shooting — is in his fourth season with the Thunder and fifth season in the league.
His first two seasons saw playoff berths and competitive playoff series. Since then though, the Thunder have gone 65-131 (.332 winning percentage) and have missed the playoffs the last two seasons.
But that appears to be changing a bit, as the Thunder (19-23) are just one game back from the 10th seed and have played great basketball recently, going 8-5 in their last 13 games.
It seems like Gilgeous-Alexander sees and agrees with the Thunder’s vision in his response, as he was excited to talk about the current future state of the franchise.
“I think we’re going to be a really good team a lot sooner than people think, so I think it’s pretty easy for me,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “I see the growth every day. I see the growth in the last five months, year, two years, and I’m super excited about it.”
Those words are music to Thunder fans’ ears.
