Shahjahanpur NRI murder case: Public prosecutor shunted out after complaint by victim's son, mother

SHAHJAHANPUR: In a recent development in the gruesome murder of British citizen Sukhjeet Singh, SSP Shahjahanpur changed the public prosecutor following a complaint against him by the victim's son and mother.

Speaking to TOI, SSP Shahjahanpur, Ashok Kumar Meena, said, "The family complained that the electronic evidence in the case diary submitted in court was damaged and the public prosecutor was more inclined towards the accused. Since it is a sensitive case, we discussed it with district government counsel (DGC), crime, Anuj Singh and changed the public prosecutor immediately. We checked the case diary and found that the self-confession of the accused recorded on a compact disc was mishandled. Since the confession was in front of police, it is not considered under the Evidence Act."
