SFA scrap Nick Montgomery live mic for Edinburgh derby

Hibernian boss Nick Montgomery will no longer be mic'd up against Hearts for the upcoming Edinburgh derby after the Scottish Football Association stepped in to scrap the idea.

The Easter Road boss had agreed to fans watching on Sky Sports at home to hear him throughout the fixture after Hibs agreed to a request from the broadcaster.

It would have been a first in Scottish football along with Montgomery's assistant Sergio Raimundo wearing a body cam.

Cameras would have also been allowed into the Hibernian dressing room.

However, the governing body raised concerns over the ability for opposing teams to hear tactical discussions as well as fears over the integrity of the game due to gambling fans being given access to information that they would usually not be privy to.

The SFA were also worried that any potential abuse to referee John Beaton could be broadcast.

Sky had previously agreed the move with the SPFL as they have done similar projects with Premier League sides in the past.
