Film crews and old cars took over a city centre street as filming continued for a major film production.
Crews started setting up equipment on Castle Street in Liverpool City Centre on Tuesday morning (November 22) for more filming of the new Paramount+ series, Sexy Beasts. The new series is prequel to the 2000 gangster classic Sexy Beast.
The new set featured multiple old cars and extras wore vintage-style clothing, with many sporting either red and white or blue and white scarves and flags. As filming took place during the day, people were seen stopping to watch the actors and actresses performing in the street.

This isn’t the first time that Liverpool has travelled back to the 1990s, as earlier this month, TV star James McArdle was seen on Earle Street in action as Gal Dove and The Cross Keys pub was transformed into "The Golden Eagle". There was also filming back in August, as the city’s waterfront featured as 20th century London, as old cars and a red London bus with Covent Garden as the destination were spotted.
Anfield’s Jumbo Café also became "Copper Grill", and Bingley Road was transformed into Strawberry Lane, with “E1” and “London Borough of Hackney” written on street signs.
The new Paramount+ series will host an entirely new cast to the original film and will star James McArdle as Gal Dove, Emun Elliott as Don Logan and Stephan Moyer as Teddy Bass. The show, set in 1990s London, will reveal the origins of the characters in Sexy Beast, which featured Ian McShane, Ben Kingsley and Amanda Redman.
Michael Caleo, who also worked on The Sopranos, has written for Sexy Beast, and will also act as executive producer and showrunner. The series is set to be available to stream on Paramount+ in 2023.
