An investigation has been launched following an allegation of sexual assault.
The incident was reported to have happened in Birkenhead Park at around 9.40pm on Wednesday. An investigation is underway and forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
Detective Inspector Leanne Toole said: “The young woman is currently being supported by our specially trained officers. The investigation is obviously in the very early stages as we seek to establish the full circumstances of what has taken place.

“We are currently examining a number of lines of enquiry including CCTV and forensic and potential witnesses who were in the area around Birkenhead park last night.
