Sex and The City fans have been put into a tizzy after photos have surfaced online of Aidan and Carrie side by side. Season two of the iconic show's sequel 'And Just Like That' has begun filming and new set pictures show Sarah Jessica Parker holding hands with fellow actor John Corbett.
The snaps were shared by the show's official Instagram on Friday, which left followers wondering if Carrie's former boyfriend will be coming back into the picture. Alongside a carousel of pictures of the pair against a New York backdrop, a caption read: "Shh. Don’t tell anyone."
Sarah Jessica Parker herself even got in on the speculation by leaving a comment on the cryptic post saying: "Shhhh. X, SJ." John Corbett played Carrie's boyfriend Aidan Shaw in season three of the iconic TV show Sex and The City. The two started a relationship, but this soon fell apart as began she admitted to affair with her on again off again lover Mr. Big.
Both Aidan and Carrie would briefly reunite in season four and get engaged, with Aidan buying Carrie's beloved West Village apartment to move in together. However, they would later end things for good due to Carrie's inability to commit and Aidan´s mistrust of her.
Aidan made one more appearance in the series, after Carrie runs into him and his newborn son. He also shows up in the Sex and The City 2 film revealing that he has two other children.
A sequel to the well loved show aired in December 2021. Titled 'And Just Like That', the comedy-drama follows Carrie and friends Charlotte and Miranda as they navigate life and love in a post-Covid New York City. Prior to its premiere, the show made headlines as it was confirmed that actor Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha would not be returning due to tensions with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.
Given Aidan and Carrie's history, fans were gob-smacked to find that their relationship could fire up once again, flocking to Twitter to express their excitement.
Tweeter @ivladimir shared the snap with the caption: "Waking up with this shot. Carrie and Aidan together again? Can’t wait!"
One fan admitted: "The grip those pics of SJP and John Corbett walking together as Carrie and Aidan, hand in hand, on the set of ‘And Just Like That’ season 2 has on me… sad and embarrassing." One mega fan simply shared the picture and wrote: "SHAKING."
Others were not so happy to learn of the potential reunion, as they speculated whether Carrie deserves Aidan as a partner. One comment read: "Imagine you were Aidan’s friend while he was with Carrie and supported him during the breakup and then he gets back together with her AGAIN."
"I will die on the hill that Big and Carrie were truly meant for each other. Carrie and Aidan are not compatible AT ALLLLLL," lamented another.
