The Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That... has been renewed for a second season with stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon returning - but Kim Cattrall is still absent.
Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte will be back on HBO Max screens after the first series aired without fan favourite Samantha, amid a rift between Kim Cattrall, 65, and Sarah Jessica Parker, 56.
The show’s executive producer Michael Patrick King said in a statement: “I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters — played by these powerful, amazing actors.
“The fact is, we're all thrilled. And Just like That… our Sex life is back.”
The official And Just Like That... Instagram account posted the confirmation of the second season, with a line from the show reading: “hello again, lovers…”
Sarah Aubrey, the Head of Original Content at HBO Max, also released a statement saying the broadcaster has been “delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much.”
She added: “We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can't wait for fans to see what's in store for season two!”
While Kim will be absent, Sarah Jessica Parker is said to be considering finding another actress to play Samantha Jones in the second season - and the list of possibilities includes Chelsea Handler, Kim Basinger and Annette Benning.
The Sex and the City reboot reportedly performed well for the streaming platform, becoming HBO Max’s most-viewed series premiere of a new original on the service and ranking in its top ten across all movie and series debuts.
In previous interviews both showrunner Michael Patrick King and star and executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker said they wanted the show to continue into a second season, but the first series was beset with challenges.
Carrie’s husband Mr Big was famously killed off in the premiere episode of the series in a dramatic scene involving a Peloton bike.
The cast also reeled from the heartbreaking news of Willie Garson’s death from pancreatic cancer at the age of 57 while the show was in production.
His character Stanford Blatch was written off in the fourth episode of the series as going on a trip to Japan to manage his famous social media client on tour amid a divorce from his husband Anthony, played by Mario Cantone.
