A recent onslaught of severe storms has caused widespread chaos and destruction in various parts of the United States and Canada. The Ozark Mountains, in particular, bore the brunt of the storms, with flash floods and water rescues becoming a common sight. In upstate New York, a tornado tore through a town, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. Toronto also faced its share of challenges, with drivers stranded in high water due to the heavy downpour.
The National Weather Service reported that parts of the Ozarks in Arkansas and Missouri received as much as 11 inches of rain overnight, leading to flash flooding and significant damage. In Arkansas, a nursing home in Yellville had to be evacuated as floodwaters rose rapidly, reaching up to 4 feet. The historic courthouse in the area also fell victim to the flooding, along with a washed-out section of a bridge.
