Several CalMac services disrupted as fog causes 'poor visibility'

CALMAC has confirmed that a number of ferry services have had to be cancelled due to poor conditions on Tuesday morning.

Heavy fog has caused disruption to transport across Scotland with Traffic Scotland warning people to “take extra care and give yourself plenty travel time”.

The ferry operator issues an amber warning for services between Tarbert and Portavadie, adding that the 8am and 8.30am services had been cancelled.

Elsewhere, it also confirmed the 9.05am service from Rothesay has been cancelled due to the MV Argyle being unable to depart from Gourock.

Another post on Twitter/X said: "Largs. Cumbrae. Due to worsening fog conditions, the 08:45 sailing from Largs and the 09:00 sailing from Cumbrae are cancelled.

"If conditions allow the 09:15 from Largs and the 09:30 from Cumbrae will be attempted."

The ferry operator also said: "Ardrossan. Brodick. Due to reduced visibility caused by fog conditions, this service is liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice."

Services from Gourock have also had to be suspended although this will be reviewed around 9am.

In a post on Twitter/X, Traffic Scotland said: “A rather misty morning across parts of Scotland.

“Do take extra care and give yourself plenty travel time.”
