The number of children who have died after contracting Strep A is reported to have reached seven. A 12-year-old schoolboy from London has died after contracting an invasive form of the infection, reports The Guardian.
By Friday the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said that six children under 10 had died, meaning the Year Eight pupil whose death was reported on Saturday would be the seventh to have died so far this year.
Among the deaths, four-year-old Muhammad Ibrahim Ali from Buckinghamshire, died in an ambulance on his way to hospital and seven year old Hanna Roap died in Penarth after coming home from school with a cough.
