Seven-month-old Carter goes viral in uplifting video thanks to 'best sound ever'

Heart-warming family video has captured the moment a baby let out his 'first ever belly laugh' while watching his dad repeatedly rip open masking tape to seal a parcel. Little Carter Hazlewood is captured chuckling for two minutes straight.

Ross Hazlewood returned home from a long day at work last month and started packing up a box while seven-month-old Carter lay on the bed next to him. The 32-year-old dad unwound the brown sticky tape before little Carter, who has been known to be 'grumpy' at times before learning to love smiling, erupted in hysterical laughter, his tiny body shaking with delight at the sound.

In the clip, the tradesman rips a second piece of plastic tape as cute Carter watches expectantly - before again bursting out into infectious little chuckles.

Carter's mum Carmen Sherred, 23, shared the video on TikTok to the delight of other social media users, with her clip of the giggling tot racking up more than 54,400 views, more than 6,200 likes and 131 comments. Ross, from Bolton, said: "It was his first proper laugh. He'd had a few little giggles in the past but this was his first proper laugh.

"He obviously thinks the masking tape is the funniest thing in the world. It took me by surprise seeing him belly laugh like that. It was unexpected. I'd just got home from work and I had a couple of packages to wrap up.

"Carmen was busy and Carter was lay on the bed. I started wrapping this package and he just burst out in hysterical laughter. It actually went on for about two minutes."

In another part of the uplifting clip, baby Carter is giggling so hard he gasps for air. Delighted Ross has even joked he might start sending parcels more often just to hear his baby son's laughter.

Ross said: "There's one part in the video where he gets to the point that he loses his breath - he looks like he's about to start crying. I think he panics a bit because he's laughing so much that it starts hurting, then he carries on.

"I pull the tape, he's just looking at me then as soon as I bite it, his face lights up and he starts giggling away. I'm tempted to send back other packages just to get him laughing. I was just wasting tape the other day.

"His personality is amazing. He's very grumpy at times and lets you know, but as soon as we wake up in the morning he looks up and smiles. When he wakes up it's his happiest time, he smiles all morning. He's got to that age now where his personality is properly coming out."

After sending the clip to their family, Ross and Carmen were urged to post it online, as loved ones instantly knew little Carter would become a viral star.

Ross said: "We sent the video to our family WhatsApp groups first and then my side of the family got on the phone saying 'put it online - it'll go viral'. That's how it happened. We just need positive news and it's a heart-warming feeling seeing all the love and all the views [online]."

Ross' partner Carmen added hearing her son's laugh for the first time was 'pure happiness'. Carmen said: "It was lovely for us both to hear it together for the first time, it was the best feeling. Hearing Carter laugh like this for the first time was indescribable - pure happiness."

On TikTok, several users suggested Carter's roars of laughter had 'made their day', while one user even said it was 'the best sound ever'.

One commenter said: "Awww the best sound ever I love when this happens." Another woman said: "Aw such an adorable laugh just made my day."

A fellow mum said: "Oh little man you brought me so much joy - that laugh, you're the best little man." Another TikTok said: "There's nothing purer than a baby laugh."
