Seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) officials were killed in an attack on Damascus, including senior Iranian commanders Mohammed Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, as confirmed by an official IRGC statement.
Haji Rahimi, identified as the second commander killed in the attack on Iran's consulate building in the Syrian capital, was reported to be a coordinator for the Quds Force, according to Iran's semi-official Tasnim News.
The IRGC statement also listed five other officials who lost their lives in the incident: Hossein Aman Elahi, Mehdi Jalalati, Mohsen Sedaghat, Ali Aghababaee, and Ali Salehi Roozbahani, bringing the total death toll to at least seven individuals.
