Seven people have been injured after the ceiling of a hotel kitchen caved in.
Two of the victims were left with serious injuries after the floor of a gym in a Mallorca hotel collapsed, plunging heavy exercise machines into the kitchen below.
One of those injured was a chef at the Blue Sea Piscis Hotel in Port de Alcudia in the north of the Balearic island.
The emergency services, who are still on the scene, have confirmed there are no fatalities.
A 57-year-old woman has been evacuated to the Son Espases hospital with a reserved prognosis after she was trapped against a wall.
She suffered several serious injuries and a bruised face.
The other person badly hurt was a man, aged 59. He suffered a serious head injury.
According to Mallorca's fire service, the accident happened at 2.58pm in the tourist hotel on Teodor Canet street.
It is understood a roof of the gym collapsed and some machines fell into the kitchen on the lower floor.
Two people were trapped in the rubble and another five have been treated with various injuries. The two people seriously hurt are believed to be employees of the hotel.
The hotel was evacuated as a precautionary measure and the street closed so that the emergency teams could work without problems.
Crews from four fire stations rushed to the scene, in addition to a basic life support ambulance, a SAMU rapid intervention vehicle, as well as local police and Civil Guard agents.
Initially, there was great concern as the condition of the two people trapped was not known and there were fears for their lives.
The fire service says clients have been relocated to other hotels whilst the structure of the building is checked. More than 300 guests were evacuated.
The Civil Guard is investigating the cause of the incident and whether it was a gas leak although this has not been confirmed.
