Seven Bristol bars are taking part in a cocktail trail celebrating a specific brand of Bourbon. The city is one of three locations across the country taking part in the new initiative called Maker’s Mark Remarkable Neighbourhood.
Along with Manchester and Edinburgh, bars around Bristol will be serving special cocktails inspired by Maker’s Mark ‘Gold Rush’ cocktail, which is made up of honey syrup, lemon and Maker’s Mark bourbon. Created at their distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, the drink is is handcrafted in small batches to produce a "smooth but flavourful bourbon whiskey".
During production they rotate each barrel by hand and hand dip each of their bottles. The bars taking part consist of two in the city centre and five in the Clifton area: Clockwork Rose, Harbour Hub, Bar Humbug, Dirty Bird, Filthy XIII, HMSS and Kibou. Those wanting to head down to the bars during the event will need to book a table at most bars, with just Harbour Hub and Bar Humbug requiring no booking.

Each venue has added their own little twist to the ‘Gold Rush’ cocktail, so customers can expect different tastes. At Kibou in Clifton, people will have the option to try ‘a theatrical Kin Isogu’ which is made up of Wagyu blended fat washed Maker’s Mark American Whiskey, Cocoa nib infused Campari aperitif, freshly squeezed lemon juice, Bristol honey water blend and garnished with dried lemon wheel and smoke.
Or for those wanting to stick to the centre of the city, you could head to the Harbour Hub and try a ‘refreshing’ Golden Delicious. Made up of Maker’s Mark, fresh lemon, honey water with salt and orange bitters topped with local sparkling apple juice and garnished with mint and a slice of lemon.
Maker’s Mark started on Monday, May 15 and will continue until Wednesday, May 31 in Bristol. More information can be found on the event website.
