Seven arrested over devastating arson attack at Seaton Burn coach depot all released without charge

Detectives probing a devastating fire at a Tyneside coach depot have questioned seven suspects, but all have been released witout charge.

The blaze, at the North East Coach Travel Depot, in Seaton Burn, left several vehicles completely burnt-out.

Police were called to the scene at around 9.30pm on September 14 as around 20 firefighters from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service tackled the flames

No one was injured but Northumbria Police quickly confirmed that the incident was being treated as a suspected arson attack and an investigation was launched.

Now the Chronicle can reveal that seven men, aged 27 to 52, were arrested on suspicion of arson.

However, all the suspects were released without charge.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Seven men, aged 27, 32, 37, 37, 40, 45 and 52 – were arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with the investigation. They were later released with no further action to be taken.”
