What Each Product Is Actually Doing
Setting powder works by absorbing. It soaks up the oil and moisture sitting on top of your foundation, giving skin a matte or satin finish depending on the formula. Loose translucent powders, pressed compacts, and banana powders all work on the same principle: they sit on the surface and drink up whatever rises through your makeup during the day. The problem with humidity is that it introduces moisture from outside as well as from within. Powder can only absorb so much before it turns patchy.
