Dwight Yorke details ‘serious issue’ with Manchester United after chat with Frenkie de Jong
Manchester United icon Dwight Yorke has revealed he spoke to Frenkie de Jong amid the club’s interest in the midfielder.
The former striker is gearing up for his first managerial job in Australia as he takes charge of Macarthur FC. Back in May, he managed the A-League All-Stars in a friendly against Barcelona, when United’s interest in De Jong was ramping up.

Yorke said he had spoken to the player at the game. Three months after negotiations first started, however, De Jong looks no closer to an Old Trafford switch despite the clubs having agreed a deal in principle.

With less than a month of the transfer window remaining, time is running out for Manchester United to complete their summer business.
While Erik ten Hag's squad has certainly started to take shape with the additions of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, it's far from the grand rebuild that was needed and more additions are required. The new manager would ideally like to add a right-back, forward, reserve goalkeeper and, of course, a new midfielder.
Ten Hag identified his former midfielder Frenkie de Jong as the perfect player to implement his style of football on United months ago and, to the club's credit, they have backed their manager and pursued the deal for months regardless of how difficult it has been. United have actually had an agreement in place with Barcelona for a number of weeks, but it has reached an impasse.
