Serial Scots rapist who showed 'no remorse' over 15-year campaign of terror jailed

A serial Scots rapist who attacked multiple women throughout Aberdeen over a 15-year period has been jailed. Stephen Kidd, from Peterculter, showed "no remorse" for his crimes, and was convicted by a jury at the High Court in Edinburgh today.

The 36-year-old raped and abused women in and around the Granite City between June 2005 and August 2020. Kidd was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register. He will be sentenced at a later date.

Officers have praised the courage of the predator's victims for sharing their ordeals, and subsequently helping to bring Kidd to justice.

They also reminded the public that reports of sex crimes are always handled efficiently and sensitively, and that no one should hesitate to get in touch if they believe they have been on the receiving end of such a crime.

Detective Inspector Gordon Patullo said: “Our thought are very much with Kidd’s victims and I hope that today’s verdict brings them some kind of closure and helps them to move forward. I commend them all for their bravery in coming forward. Kidd subjected women to sexual and physical assault over a 15 year period. He has shown no remorse for his crimes.

"Police Scotland is committed to supporting victims of sexual crimes and takes all reports seriously with the aim of bringing those responsible to justice. I would urge anyone who wishes to report a sexual crime, no matter how long ago, to contact us.”
