Serial disqualified driver accused of pursuit put Knights fans at risk, police say

A SERIAL disqualified driver accused of leading police on a high-speed pursuit through Newcastle put Knights fans returning home from watching the NRL grand final at risk, police say, only a day after another car ploughed into 10 people waiting to farewell the team bus.

Mathew John Willis, 45, of Argenton, appeared in handcuffs in a bail division court on Monday after allegedly travelling at "excessive" speeds and leading police on a pursuit from Hamilton into the Newcastle CBD and back again on Sunday night.
