Sergio Gomez names two teammates who are helping him settle at Man City

Sergio Gomez has revealed that Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo are helping him settle at Manchester City and learn an unfamiliar role for a full-back.

City moved to sign Gomez in the summer from Anderlecht and he remained at the Etihad as part of the first-team squad despite initial plans to immediately send him out on loan. The Blues needed cover for left-back after selling Aleks Zinchenko but failing in their attempts to bring Marc Cucurella in as a replacement.

It's of little surprise that Gomez has looked out of place in a City shirt at times, like when he was dismissed early on against FC Copenhagen for a needless foul, as a result. Though the Spaniard is accustomed to charging up and down the flanks as a full-back, he isn't quite as comfortable yet in fulfilling Pep Guardiola's demand for full-backs to tuck inside as an extra midfielder.

The Blues boss is often patient with new signings while they get used to his methods and Gomez is also being helped by his fellow full-backs Walker and Cancelo. "They helped me a lot to fit into the group, to settle and adapt very, very quick," he told City's in-house media. "Both of them are helping me a lot from my early days, because, in the end, it is a position in which I had played, but with a different role."

Gomez also explained how all of his teammates have helped his transition to English football. He added: "The Premier League attracts lots of attention in Spain, but you must experience it by yourself to realise how tough this competition is.

"English football is quite different than Spanish football, but I'm feeling comfortable, and the truth is that my teammates are making things very easy. I am looking forward to the second half of the season and hopefully we can achieve all of our goals."
