Garcia split with TaylorMade in October in 2017 after 15 years with the company before signing with Callaway at the start of January 2018. However he then resigned with TaylorMade in 2021 before seeming to become a free agent for 2023. In 2024 though, it seems that he has rekindled his love for TaylorMade once again. Driver
What Driver Does Sergio Garcia Use?
Garcia has chopped and changed an awful lot in this area of the bag over the past couple of years. At various times I have seen a Titleist TSR3 in his bag, not to mention a Ping G430 Max or his original Stealth driver from TaylorMade.
Sergio is currently playing a TaylorMade Qi10 Max in a 9˚ head. This is fitted with a Fujikura Ventus Black 6-X shaft, and is lofted down to a base loft of just over 7˚ to counteract the higher launching and spinning head of the Max model, while still being able to reap the rewards of its added forgiveness.
Fairways
What Fairway Woods Does Sergio Garcia Use?
When we met with Sergio for an in-person What's In The Bag, he was trying out the TaylorMade BRNR Copper mini-driver at 13.5˚ with a Fujikura Ventus Black 7-X shaft, which he was hitting mightily impressively to our eye! The mini-driver revolution is gaining momentum with players such as Tommy Fleetwood using them very effectively.
In addition to the mini-driver, Sergio was using a TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 18˚ 5-wood with a Fujikura Ventus Black 8-X shaft. It is an excellent club for players with high swing speeds and it's clear the brand has made some big improvements since the previous TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus in 2023.
We were really impressed with the Qi10 Tour in testing and feel they sit amongst the best fairway woods of 2024.
Irons
What Irons Does Sergio Garcia Use?
Garcia seems to have returned to an older set of irons after a brief dalliance with Ping Blueprint irons, and is currently gaming the TaylorMade P7MB from 4 iron to pitching wedge fitted with LA Golf shafts, and custom 'Sergio' SuperStroke grips.
With shorter blade length, less offset, and narrower sole widths than any other TaylorMade iron, this is really a club for the best ball strikers. Garcia switches between his 5 wood and a TaylorMade P770 3 iron.
Wedges
What Wedges Does Sergio Garcia Use?
After his set pitching wedge, Garcia uses two further wedges. He starts with a Titleist Vokey SM10 model with a stated loft of 54˚, however he bends this to 52˚ to fit in with the required yardage gaps. His 58-degree wedge is a Vokey SM9 WedgeWorks design with the very popular T-Grind sole. Vokey rep Aaron Dill sent Sergio the T-Grind as an experiment, and immediately he loved it. Dill wasn't surprised to hear that because apparently that was the exact grind Garcia was using when he was a Titleist player back in the late '90s and early 2000s.
Putter
What Putter Does Sergio Garcia Use?
Once again, in this area of the bag, Garcia is very much a tinkerer and not afraid to try some unorthodox options! He has been seen with numerous models of late, including a LAB Golf Mezz Max and even some twenty-year-old custom Scotty Cameron putters that he had forgotten he owned! Subsequently, Garcia was using a new Golfyr The Maker putter which we recently tested. We loved the unusual aesthetic and high levels of forgiveness.
When we caught up with Sergio at the LIV Golf UK event, he was using a model from Never Compromise while Golfyr was making him a smaller version of his The Maker model. He told us he liked that the ball came off the face of the Never Compromise putter relatively quickly, which meant he didn't have to stroke the ball too hard.
