Sergio Aguero identifies the Celtic Champions League advantage that can make them 'even stronger'

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero believes that Celtic will be the beneficiaries of their fans' vocal support in the Champions League group stage.

Parkhead is renowned for its atmosphere on European nights and a sold-out home crowd will be inside the 60,000-capacity stadium to watch Ange Postecoglou's men host Real Madrid. The European champions are the challenge as they open up their group section for this season with German side RB Leipzig and Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk also to come in the Champions League.

Aguero played in this competition many times with Man City and reckons Celtic will draw big strength from their supporters, although RB Leipzig will also be able to do this. An issue may arise for Shakhtar Donetsk, who are being forced to play in Poland due to the ongoing war with Russia in their homeland, with the Spanish giants no doubt favourites in Group F after winning this tournament in May.

Speaking with Stake, the Argentine said: "We all know that Celtic is very strong at home and with a large fan base that will surely make the team even stronger.

"But Leipzig will also have that support. The one who will feel this lack will surely be Shakhtar, who will have to play in Poland because of the war, although they have told me that there are many refugees there who will go to support the team."

There was one meeting between Aguero and the Hoops during his spell in England, a 3-3 draw at Celtic Park in 2016.
