Serge Gnabry has already given verdict on Arsenal transfer as Mikel Arteta has one key advantage

Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry has claimed that Arsenal are his “favourite choice” over a potential return to the Premier League. It comes amid speculation over the 26-year-old’s future, with only one-year remaining on his current deal.

Amid the uncertainty, journalist Christian Falk has reported that the Gunners are interested in a move for the Germany international, with the player also picturing a potential switch back. However, given the nature of the financial package and his expiring contract, any move is likely to be in 2023, when he is a free agent.

Any transfer next summer would see Gnabry return for the first time in seven years since he left the club for Werder Bremen in 2016. Only one year later, he made the £7.5million move to Bayern Munich, where he accumulated 12 trophies.

A return could be huge for the Gunners and their young squad, who have impressed, but just missed out on Champions League football for the next campaign. The former winger could add experience, given that he has become a serial winner but is also only just entering the prime of his career.

Gnabry will hardly be short of suitors, especially on a free transfer at the end of next season. However, Mikel Arteta has one key advantage. Speaking to CBS Sports back in 2020, the forward said Arsenal would be his “favourite choice” if he were to return to England again.

He also said in the interview: “I would do it over again if I was in that position because it helped my character a lot,” when asked about his move to England.

It remains to be seen whether a move will materialise, but it could take the side to the next level under Arteta.
