Sensex jumps 1,223 points as auto, financial stocks rise; Nifty settles above 16,300

NEW DELHI: Equity indices jumped for the second straight session on Wednesday with the benchmark BSE sensex rising over 1,200 points led by gains in financial, auto and realty stocks.

The 30-share BSE index surged 1,223 points or 2.29 per cent to close at 54,647; while the broader NSE Nifty settled 332 points or 2.07 per cent higher at 16,345.
