Sensational Suryakumar Yadav slams third T20I ton, his first at home

NEW DELHI: Incredible Suryakumar Yadav smashed his third T20I century as he lit up the Rajkot night sky in the series decider against Sri Lanka on Saturday. Coming in at no.4 Surya raced to the the three-figure mark off just 45 balls with the help of 6 fours and 8 sixes.

With the scintillating effort, Surya became the first player to hit three T20I centuries outside the opening slot.

Surya is now also the second fastest centurion for India behind Rohit Sharma, who scored a 35-ball ton back in 2017 against Sri Lanka in Indore.

Taking the Lankan bowlers to the cleaners after India opted to bat, 32-year-old -- in the form of his life -- clobbered the ball to all corners of the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in his trademark manner.

Showcasing a wide array of shots, Surya's ton came at a jaw-dropping strike rate of over 220.

After completing his fifty 26 balls, Surya took only 19 deliveries to reach the 100-run mark as the world's number one batter in the format looked like a man from another planet.

Surya now hit 3 centuries in the last 7 months. His other centuries have come against England (117) in Nottingham and against New Zealand (111*) in Mount Maunganui.

Surya eventually finished on an unbeaten 112 off just 51 balls as he powered India to 228 for 5 in 20 overs.
