A Mark Smith peach “lit up” the early stages of Saturday’s home fixture against Camelon and helped send Kinnoull into the First Division promotion places.
The striker slammed in a low long-ranger just five minutes in before Pat Brown netted from the penalty spot just shy of the hour mark.
Camelon did find the back of the net late in the day at Tulloch Park but the Perth side held on for a 2-1 victory.
“I was very pleased with the performance in what was a very hard fought victory,” manager Alan Cameron said. “But I think it was deserved.
“We matched Camelon’s intensity and, while it maybe wasn’t the best game for the purist, both teams tried to get the ball down and play.
“It was a sensational strike from Mark Smith which lit up the first half, to be honest. I don’t think two goalies would’ve stopped it.”
Kinnoull, now in the promotion places, welcome Whitehill Welfare to Perth on Wednesday night. Kick-off at Tulloch Park is scheduled for 7.30pm.
“Squad-wise, we are hoping that a few boys will come back into contention,” Cameron said.
