Senne Lammens profiled as Club Brugge goalkeeper linked with Leeds United transfer

Club Brugge goalkeeper Senne Lammens is 'on his way' to Leeds United, according Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws (via Sports Witness).

The report claims that Leeds have entered negotiations over the signing of Lammens, although it 'remains to be seen' whether he will move in January or in the summer.

Leeds were said to be interested in the 20-year-old during the previous transfer window, and are looking to take advantage of his contractual situation. Lammens is out of contract at the end of the season, while Club Brugge have failed in their attempts to persuade him to sign a new deal.

Lammens is able to negotiate with other clubs over a free transfer in the summer, or could leave Club Brugge on a cut-price deal in the current window.

With that in mind, LeedsLive have taken a closer look at the latest name to be linked with a move to Elland Road...

Lammens joined Club Brugge's academy in 2014 at the age of 12, after previous spells at local clubs RC Bambrugge and FCV Dender EH.

The goalkeeper rocketed through the ranks at Club Brugge and famously scored a 95th minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid U19s in the UEFA Youth League in December 2019.

He has amassed 19 caps for Belgium across various age groups, including three outings for the U21s. During his youth career at international level, Lammens played with AC Milan forward Charles De Ketelaere, who was involved in a dramatic transfer saga with Leeds back in the summer.

The goalkeeper was promoted to the first team at the start of the 2020-21 season and started four games on the bench. He gained senior experience in the second-tier with Club Brugge's second team Club NXT, but conceded 32 goals in just 13 appearances.

Nevertheless, Lammens was presented with his Pro League debut in a 2-2 home draw against KAS Eupen on the opening day of the season in July 2021. He made three further appearances for Club Brugge last season, including most notably in their 3-2 victory over KRC Genk in the Belgian Supercup final.

Lammens has been an understudy to former Liverpool and Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet for the last two seasons. He is yet to register a single appearance for the first team this season, but has been on the bench in every game in the Pro League and UEFA Champions League.
