Senior royals united in silence snub Prince Andrew's 62nd birthday

Senior royals including the Queen, Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge all failed to publicly wish the Duke of York a happy birthday yesterday.

Prince Andrew was snubbed as the three most senior royals broke with recent convention, choosing not to use social media to send their best to him.

This comes days after Andrew settled a civil sexual assault case brought against him by Virginia Giuffre.

The Duke of York denies all allegations made against him - claiming to have never met her.

He paid her settlement worth a reported £12million.

She claimed that she was forced to have sex with Andrew on three occasions by Epstein, claims he continues to deny even after paying the settlement.

It is believed Andrew marked his 62nd birthday at Royal Lodge, his home in Windsor.

Since 2019, when he stepped back from Royal duties, Andrew has not had the honour of having flags flown to mark his birthdays.

Andrew has been given 30 days to settle the payment to Giuffre, but The Mail on Sunday has reported that the sale of his Swiss ski chalet is not yet available.

They reported that he might require a short-term loan to settle his debt.

On top of this, there are questions about whether he can afford to pay the upkeep of Grade II listed Royal Lodge and meet the annual £260,000 ‘peppercorn rent’.

A source told The Sunday Mail said: “Parts of Royal Lodge really need updating and he obviously doesn’t have the money to make the repairs, so there are questions over whether he ought to be allowed to stay there if he can’t look after the place.”

Prince Andrew is expected to attend a memorial service for his father, the Duke of Edinburgh, next month, but will not take any role in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.
