Senegal boss makes Sadio Mane claim amid Liverpool and Bayern Munich transfer talks

Senegal manager Aliou Cisse has claimed Bayern Munich is the 'best' place for Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane.

The ECHO understands that the Reds are expecting the Bundesliga champions to lodge a third, improved bid for Mane in the coming days.

Julian Nagelsmann's team have been rebuffed twice already as Liverpool hold out for nearer £42.75m.

In light of the Reds' defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, speculation surrounding Mane's future was intensifying. Since then, the Bavarians have had bids of £25m and £30m rejected.

Jurgen Klopp's side, on the other hand, are bracing themselves for the £85m arrival of Darwin Nunez as the striker edges closer to a move from Benfica. The 22-year-old Uruguayan looks to be the latest addition to a ferocious attack after the arrival of Luis Diaz in January.

Mane's future in L4 remains unclear but the likelihood is he will be leaving Anfield this summer. And his national team boss Cisse has urged him to make the move to Munich.

"I heard about Sadio at Bayern," Cisse said via Senego. "For me, it is a club that is of its standing. Bayern is intensity, pressure football with a German coach.

"Sadio played in Salzburg in Austria, which is a border country, and that means he is not going into unknown territory. For me, the club where he will feel the best is Bayern."

Cisse will be keeping a keen eye on the situation surrounding his star man's future as Senegal prepare for the World Cup in November.

Mane fired the Lions of Teranga to the finals in Qatar with his winning spot-kick in the shoot-out against Mohamed Salah's Egypt earlier this year.
