Guardian Australia’s readers have provided thousands of images and videos to support our coverage of major news events over the past decade.
Now, we’re asking for any pictures or videos you can provide to help in our reporting of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred but your safety and security are most important.
Extreme weather events can be very unpredictable and carry very real risks.
Make sure to stay indoors when the system is active in your area. Queensland authorities advise that stepping outside even for a moment while the storm is active puts you at risk from flying debris and falling branches, and emergency services may not be able to assist if conditions worsen.
Stay safe while you are taking photos and remain aware of your surroundings. Don’t take any risks, don’t enter flood water and always follow the advice of authorities.
For more information on how to stay safe, see the latest advice from the Queensland government.
