
Spending on special educational needs and disabilities (Send) could outstrip day-to-day spending by the Ministry of Justice by 2029 without significant reform, the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) has said.
Researchers have forecast that spending across education, health and care plans (EHCPs) and on a cash benefit for children with disabilities combined could grow to £21 billion by the end of the parliamentary term – more than double real-terms spending in 2016.
