A US senator has said that he is “more fearful than ever” of troop deployment to Iran following a classified briefing on the ongoing conflict.
Speaking to the press after a closed-door briefing on Tuesday (3 March), Democrat Richard Blumenthal said he believes that Donald Trump could be putting boots on the ground to “accomplish objectives that the administration seems to have”.
Mr Blumenthal said he left the meeting with more questions than answers, explaining that he is unsure what the administration’s objectives are in Iran going forward.
The US president has said he doesn’t have the “yips” when it comes to sending Americans to war, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters that the administration won’t be “dumb about it.
