New Mexico Democratic Sen. Ben Ray Luján recently defended vice presidential candidate Tim Walz following a statement made by the Harris campaign. The campaign acknowledged that Minnesota Governor Walz misspoke when he claimed to have carried weapons 'in war.' Luján commended the upfront approach taken by the Harris campaign in addressing the issue, contrasting it with the handling of similar situations by Republican candidates, former President Donald Trump and Ohio Sen. JD Vance.

Senator Luján emphasized the importance of acknowledging and taking responsibility for incorrect statements. He pointed out the contrast in approach between the two political sides, highlighting the tendency for contradictions in statements made by the Republican candidates.
