In a recent interview, Democratic Senator from Delaware, Chris Coons, expressed his concern over the continued inflammatory commentary and rhetoric used by former President Donald Trump. Senator Coons noted that Trump's campaign success relies on scapegoating immigrants, which he believes is an unfounded and harmful narrative. In contrast, Coons emphasized the importance of recognizing immigrants as the lifeblood of the country, highlighting their positive contributions to society and the economy.
Regarding the ongoing negotiations in the Senate, Coons acknowledged the need to improve border security and address the critical supplemental package requested by President Biden several weeks ago. The package includes funding for assistance to Ukraine, border security measures, humanitarian aid, support for Israel, and assistance to Indo-Pacific partners. Coons expressed hope that after intense negotiations, the Senate would reconvene in January and pass the requested appropriations.
