According to four sources, the Senate leadership race will proceed to a second ballot as Florida Sen. Rick Scott has been eliminated from the running. The competition now narrows down to Senators John Thune of South Dakota and John Cornyn of Texas.
In the initial ballot, Senator Thune secured 23 votes, Senator Cornyn received 15 votes, and Senator Scott garnered 13 votes. Additionally, there were two write-in votes cast during the first round of voting.
