A Kansas bakery owner said Sen. Roger Marshall’s campaign never paid for treats ordered in 2020. Holly Thomas of Holly’s Sweet Treats in Hutchinson posted on Facebook that the unpaid invoice totaled $678.75. Marshall later said on X that the campaign settled the bill and paid double.
The receipt Thomas shared listed $375 for custom sugar cookies, $75 for cupcakes, and $175 for fudge brownies. She said the order was placed for his primary election watch party. Thomas wrote that she was a brand-new small business owner at the time and that the missing payment stood out because her shop was trying to get through the Covid-19 pandemic.
