Sen. Mitch McConnell posts photo from hospital, promises to get back on Senate floor

  • Sen. Mitch McConnell was hospitalized last month after a fall and later developed a mild case of pneumonia during his recovery .
  • He clarified that he did not suffer broken bones , a concussion, heart attack, stroke, tumors, or hemorrhages, but was briefly unconscious.
  • McConnell announced he will not immediately return to the Senate floor but will continue to work on Senate business remotely.
  • “My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital," McConnell wrote. "While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia.”
  • The Office of the Attending Physician confirmed his falls are attributed to his post-polio condition and he is undergoing intensive physical therapy.
