Sen. Graham Dismisses Allegations Against Rep. Gaetz

Rep. Matt Gaetz speaks

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a prominent member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has weighed in on the allegations of sexual misconduct against former Rep. Matt Gaetz. Graham dismissed the allegations, stating that individuals should not be disqualified based solely on media reports. He pointed out that despite being investigated by the FBI and a bipartisan House panel, no further action was taken against Gaetz.

When asked about the House Ethics report on Gaetz, Graham deferred to the House, indicating that it should be left to their discretion. On the other hand, Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy, also a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, was less definitive about his stance on the House Ethics report. Kennedy mentioned the possibility of the report leaking even if the House panel decides not to release it.

Regarding discussions with former President Donald Trump about Gaetz's potential appointment to lead the Justice Department, Kennedy clarified that he had not spoken to Trump on this matter. However, he revealed plans to meet with Gaetz and Vice President-elect JD Vance on Wednesday for further discussions.
