Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, the incoming Senate Majority Whip, recently met with Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump's nominee for the Defense Department. Following the meeting, Barrasso expressed his support for Hegseth, referring to him as a 'strong nominee.' Barrasso highlighted that Hegseth assured a focus on strength and hard power at the Pentagon, rather than the current administration's perceived 'woke political agenda.'
Barrasso emphasized the historical trend of swift confirmations for national security nominations in the Senate and expressed anticipation for Hegseth's hearing and a vote on the Senate floor in January.
Additionally, GOP Sen. Bill Hagerty of Tennessee is also scheduled to meet with Hegseth, along with Vice President-elect JD Vance.
