Selling Sunset star Mary Fitzgerald has explained why there are no celebrities on the massively popular Netflix real estate reality show.
While some fans have suggested the producers used actors and worked to a script to create the real estate agent drama in Selling Sunset, Mary lifted the lid on her job behind the cameras.
The real estate broker responded to rumours about the hard working real estate agents of The Oppenheim Group during an appearance on ITV ’s Lorraine.
Host Lorraine Kelly touched on the glitzy real estate sector in California, and asked about the lack of celebrities on the Netflix show, given that they’re all over Los Angeles real estate.
Lorrain asked: “All of you know a lot of people and we don’t see that because an awful lot of celebrities – especially incredibly famous and rich – they don’t want to be on the TV, they don’t want to know. So a lot of this we will never see.”
Mary replied: “That’s true and a lot of times even if they wanted to be on the show, they can’t.
“They’re in contract with another network and their contract prevents them from doing that.
“So, we do have a lot more celebrities than what you guys see.”
This comes after Netflix announced they have signed on for another two seasons of the reality show, despite the loss of two of the show's most popular estate agents.
Cameras will start rolling on the next season at the Californian Oppenheim group over this summer, ready to catch all the dating, drama, and high-end fashion inevitable on the smash-hit show.
Selling Sunset 's fifth season saw high sales prices and equally high amounts of internal office drama as bombshell Chrishell Stause dated group co-owner Jason Oppenheim, which later broke down.
Controversial agent Christine Quinn will not be making a return, leaving the show after paying a client to work with her rather than a co-worker as well as many other high-drama moments in the season.
After being removed from the company's website, Quinn announced that she was setting up her own firm to "disrupt" the industry.
Level-headed Maya Vander will also not be making a return to the series after suffering from a miscarriage just months after giving birth to her stillborn son Mason.
On top of the hardship of flying from Miami to Los Angeles weekly for the show, Maya's pregnancy difficulties have been discussed previously on the show as a major cause of stress for the real estate agent.
