England and Newcastle United supporters have come together in unison with praise for Callum Wilson after his part in the Three Lions' sixth goal. The Magpies striker was played through on goal, one on one with Hossein Hosseini, but opted to roll the ball across to Jack Grealish who fired the ball into the back of the net.
Gareth Southgate's side ran riot against the side ranked 20th in world football. It's only the second time in World Cup history that England has scored more than five goals. Wilson came on as a second-half substitute to replace Harry Kane, but at one point it looked as though his opportunity had gone begging.
The Newcastle number nine was kitted and ready to come on, but Harry Maguire took a knock to the head. The Manchester United defender was replaced by Eric Dier as a precaution, with Southgate sending Wilson back to the bench.
