Researchers have developed a self-healing road material that repairs small cracks before they develop into potholes. The material is made of porous plant spores filled with recycled oils, which are released under pressure from passing traffic. It works by softening the bitumen, letting it flow into cracks and sealing them without the need for any human intervention.
